THE HISTORY

In 1921, the family left their life on the west coast behind and set out toward a new future.
The journey led them to Grubbestad farm, where they found both work and a home to build their future upon.
The contrast was striking — from the narrow fjord valleys and steep mountains to the open, expansive landscape here at Grubbestad.

TODAYS GRUBBESTAD

Grubbestad – where tradition and the future meet in harmony.
Today, the farm stands at the beginning of a new chapter — a journey from traditional agriculture to the establishment of a modern vineyard.
This transition is not about leaving the past behind, but about carrying its legacy forward with curiosity and innovation.
The goal is to create high-quality Norwegian wine, shaped by our unique soil and by the nature that gives the farm its distinct character.

LABORATORY

At Grubbestad Farm, we offer analysis of must and wine using the Anton Paar Lyza 5000 FTIR scanner, the same technology used by leading wine laboratories in Europe. With a standard analysis, you quickly gain an overview of key parameters such as:

  • Sugar content (potential alcohol)
  • Acid structure (TA, pH)
  • YAN (yeast assimilable nitrogen) – essential for proper yeast nutrition
  • Other key values that provide a clear picture of the must’s potential

With this data in hand, you can:

  • Choose the right yeast and yeast nutrients
  • Predict challenges in the fermentation process
  • Adjust the vinification process to ensure quality and stability

In short: Analysis gives you confidence and control. You no longer have to guess — you can make decisions based on real data.

We offer:

  • Standard analysis – weekly (NOK 490 for FND members / NOK 750 for non-members)
  • Express analysis – same day (NOK 1,500)
  • Option for qualified interpretation of the results and further recommendations

With a more challenging year ahead, the right analysis can be the difference between a wine that succeeds — and a wine that struggles.
